AWV Solar Shading Systems

Why Solar Shading?

The benefits of using natural sunlight are unavoidable. People respond better when they can have a view to the outside and work better under controlled, natural daylight conditions.

Sunlight also provides a free, clean source of illumination and heat, as well as numerous health benefits. Sunlight is essential in the production of vitamin D, and drastically reduces or eliminates harmful bacteria and mold. Lack of sunlight can also cause depression and anxiety, and nobody wants that!

Architects like to use large areas of glass to design structures that are aesthetically pleasing and harness the benefits of natural sunlight.

Too much of a good thing, however, can cause problems. A key objective for most building designers is to maximize the use of natural light without the problems of glare or excessive solar heat gain.

Excessive solar heat gain can create an uncomfortable work environment, and also increase the cooling load, leading to higher energy consumption and cost.

Architects and Consultants are increasingly recognizing the part that solar shading systems can play in both enhancing the quality of the internal environment, and saving energy.

Solar shading systems can be designed to maximize natural daylight while controlling solar heat gain and glare.
